Spirit of Excellence Awards

Steve's work, L-3, had a big party the other night for the Spirit of Excellence Awards. His IT End User Support team won an award for lots of things like Improved Database Performance, Increased Focus on Customer Service, etc. You can see all of the qualities they won for in one of the pictures. This was our first time going out as a married couple to a work function. So I took the Frontrunner train from Layton to SLC where he picked me up. I was running a little late for the train that usually only stops for 30 seconds before departing. When I was getting out of my car it was pulling into the station. So I ran as fast as my high heeled feet would let me and I made it! I'm pretty sure they were there longer than 30 seconds because it took me that long just to buy my ticket.
But I made it, Steve picked me up, he changed into a nice shirt and tie in the car and we headed off to the Grand America Hotel. In previous years, the awards ceremony was a big formal dinner with long winded speeches, but this year it was a prime rib buffet and a band was performing. Apparently they changed it because a big wig speaker was a little drunk when he gave his speech last year...I wish I was there for that! The prime rib was good according to Steve. I didn't eat it since I could still hear a stifled moo coming from my plate. The drinks were pretty cool. They had coke products in mini-glass bottles. We drank two each and took a few home. ;-) My purse weighed about 20 pounds. haha
While there I met a few of Steve's coworkers and had fun watching all the different people. For some reason all the waiters were under 5 feet tall! (or so it seemed) Here are some pictures. The really dark one of a lady in a dress is Steve's coworker Heather/Doug. I'll let you use your imagination as to why that is what he calls her.

I did a goofy face in this one, because I thought it would be funny, but Steve didn't. So I said we should do a serious smile and so this next picture is how it turned out.
