Amazing Date #1

I started this post to blog about our Amazing Date #2, but realized I never did one about the original Amazing Date so I will start with that.  A while ago, as in October 14th, Steve planned (with the help of his awesome sister, Carolyn) an Amazing Date for me.  If you've seen the show Amazing Race, it was based on that concept.
Bright and early in the morning I was given a clue, money for that leg of the race, and a road block.

My first destination was to find a real live goat...not too hard in West Haven.  Here is the cute little goat I got to come up to the fence.

Then the next destination was to a place that was a "busy, buzzing cafe".  While there I had to perform a road block.

For this road block I had to order breakfast for both of us with the total before tax equaling within 50 cents of $17.16.  If I got it exactly right, then I got an extra prize...humm never received that prize...take a look at the receipt.

I just thought this was the most adorable picture of my sexy husband!  I couldn't leave it out.

The next clue took us all the way to the Utah State University Library in Logan.  We had to find the skull of the last known Grizzly bear in Utah.  He was 10 feet tall and over 1100 lbs.  Here it is in the case.

Then I could choose between two tasks..."Feel the burn" or "The Sniff".  Since my experience with "feeling the burn" has only had to do with exercise...I chose "The Sniff".  I had to go to an office supply store and find things that were $4, $10, and $9.  (4-10-09 is our wedding date...cute Stevey!)  And if you know me, I kind of have an obsession with office supplies...I love how they smell.  Steve likes the smell of Barnes and Noble, I like the smell of dry erase markers and notepads...what's wrong with that?!?  So here is a picture of me with my $9 item.  I didn't actually have to buy them, just get pictures with them.

After completing that task, I wanted to know what the other option really was...turns out "Feel the Burn" was getting two route 44 Diet Cokes from Sonic!  I always think that Diet Coke burns on the first sip.  That is where the task got its name.  Boy as I'm writing this, I keep thinking how weird all these things sound....I'm really not that strange!  My husband just really knows me!  Anyway, he let me do both tasks since we were kind of thirsty.  So here are our drinks.

Then we got to do 18 holes of pure "Putt-Putt Bliss" as Steve called it!  We went back to Roy to the Eagle Lake Mini Golf course.  The road block said I had to be below par on holes 7, 11, and 12 (Our first date...12-11-07...adorable!).  Unfortunately Steve did not know what those holes looked like.  We didn't quite meet those standards since two out of three of those holes would have to be a hole in one to be under par.  But we had lots of fun anyway!

The next clues were all written by Carolyn, Steve's sister, so we both wouldn't know what was coming!  The next destination was to go to Dick's in Layton for our favorite kind of hot dogs...yummm cheese dogs!

Then we headed over to Mueller Park in Bountiful.  Carolyn had packed fire wood, picnic supplies, and hot dog roaster sticks!  Steve started the fire for our hot dogs then we had to find 5 different colored leaves to collect.

We had an awesome lunch of cheese dogs and chips!  Yumm!

Here is a picture of a very clear branch and a little fuzzy cute couple in the background.

Our next destination was Baskin Robbins for some Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream.  This was our last clue and I was a little confused because I had been told to pack an overnight bag...But then we noticed it said we had to buy that ice cream to bribe Carolyn for the rest of the clues!!! Crazy sister-in-law thinking she gets to have ice cream too!

So here we are bribing her!

The next clue was to go find out what my inner bear looks like.  (If you don't already know, Steve calls me his Googley Bear, that is why there have already been two clues having to do with bears!)  We went to the Gateway to build a bear.

Now finally on our way to our Pit Stop!  It was all the way in Kamas!!!!  And if you can't tell from the build a bear picture it was already dark!  Here I am in front of the sign when we got there.  It was a cute little Bed and Breakfast!  I was a little apprehensive because it was in the middle of nowhere and dark.

The next day we got to look around...it was pretty cool!  We totally have a weed sticking out of our mouths!  haha

That was the end of the clues for our first Amazing Date!  Since we were in Kamas, we decided to take the scenic route home up over the mountain pass, through Evanston, Wyoming, and back down Weber Canyon. Here are a few shots from that drive.

My favorite picture on the way home!
Thank you so much Stevey for an Amazingly Awesome Date!  I can't wait for the next one you plan!
